Everyone had gathered for the Premier’s celebration of his second term in office, a very significant accomplishment in recent history. Agent Stroker withdrew himself from an interesting conversation with United States Senator David Braxton and Admiral Schrimkov, casually walking away after asking to be excused. He walked to an empty semi-round staircase at the rear of the huge ballroom and placed a hand on the solid hand-carved oak railing at the bottom. He whispered into a microphone that was strategically placed in his mouth behind his top front teeth, “This is Four. I’m moving in on position Alpha now. I’ll be in position in one mike.” The surveillance team acknowledged the transmission as they continued monitoring all video and audio signals from the perfectly planted cameras and microphones. While caterers prepared for the party earlier in the day, two agents had placed the video cameras and microphones throughout the ballroom. While decorators were hard at work setting up for the party, the undercover agents placed several pea-sized cameras in positions that covered every aspect of the immensely spacious room. The cameras were used as back up in case something went seriously wrong while the information extraction was taking place. Micro transmitter bugs were also placed throughout the room for external audio surveillance during the mission to hear any negative chatter that may alert the team to abort. Agents Hill and Spruce finished a dance with two party guests and broke off for their key roles in the mission. They split up, covering both ends of the crowded ballroom. As they moved into position, looking as natural as anyone else at the party, they each pulled small plastic objects out of their suit pockets and simultaneously armed them. They carefully placed the small explosive devices under metal folding tables at opposite ends of the ballroom. Once complete, the two radioed in, signaling everything else into motion. To continue with their role in the mission, they both walked to the two exits and stood fast, maintaining a subtle position to ensure a clean escape for everyone. Agent Coal slipped away from a man she was talking to at the punchbowl and took her position to cover the staircase Agent Stroker...
