Spy Among Spies: Operation Teardrop Page 1!Spy Among Spies: Operation Teardrop Page 1 of Chapter 1 The last of the Information Extraction Team members arrived and stepped into the brightly lit vestibule of the European style mansion in greater Moscow. She stepped through the metal detector and was handed an identification card necklace so she could enter the fortified mansion. As planned during dress rehearsal back at headquarters, she immediately turned to the right, walked straight, and stopped in front of the punchbowl. She looked up at the clock. There was one minute left before she had to report to the team leader. As the minute hand hit twelve, everyone reported their position as set. Nestled away in a cramped van a few blocks away from the building, the surveillance team carefully watched all of the television monitors and listened in on all of the hidden microphones planted throughout the immaculate Russian mansion. As they marked down a muster of all the IET members as they reported in, images of the elaborate lounge floor where everybody gathered as friends and colleagues illuminated their stern faces from the glow of the color monitors. Everything looked perfect from the observation van, so Agent Rock, lead supervisor from the van, donned his headset and announced calmly, “All players move in...Five...four… three...two...one!” Static cracked over everyone’s headsets as Rock released his microphone button. Without looking conspicuous, the team of four highly skilled agents scattered throughout the mansion went into action just as they had rehearsed.
